A thick-walled cylinder of travertine, taller than it is wide and pitted with cavities right up to its top edge, capped with dark wood: the Paestum travertine cylinder pendant light leaves the stone matte and unpolished so its texture stays intact.

When lit, light escapes from the bottom only and casts a round, concentrated halo. The thick walls contain it completely, so there is no glare even when hung low over a table. The stone ranges from sand to golden beige, and the density of cavities and the tone differ from piece to piece.
At 11 cm (4.3 in) across and 16.5 cm (6.5 in) tall, it has the proportions of a vase more than a shade: a sculptural point above a console or nightstand, or a steady line over a kitchen island or long table.
